"Counselling can enable you to look at the issue from a different perspective. I can accompany you on this journey and enable you to achieve release"
Welcome
Hello. My name is Linda Liddell and I am based in Winchester, Hampshire.
I have a degree in Theology and Counselling and I have attended many other courses and workshops in a variety of counselling and related issues. I previously worked as a social worker with children and families and held various roles in this area. I am committed to ongoing professional development. As a member of the British Association for Counselling and Psychotherapy (BACP-No – 541136) I am bound by its Ethical Framework for Good Practice in Counselling and Psychotherapy and carry full professional indemnity insurance.
My concern is to help my clients find release in the issues they are facing and to then to maintain it.
Depression, abuse, bereavement, fear, low self esteem are just some of the things that can beset us and hinder us from moving forward in our lives. Counselling can enable you to look at the issues facing you from a different perspective. I can accompany you on this journey and enable you to work through them. I use an integrative model of counselling which uses different approaches that will be tailored within ethical and professional boundaries.
My ethos is to offer a professional service within a confidential setting. I believe personal growth to be a vital part of human development, but for many reasons we get stuck on the way. I have faced issues in my own life and I have experienced how counselling can be a constructive way forward in dealing with a wide variety of difficulties.
Please look around my website and feel free to contact me if you have any more questions. I hope I can be of help to you.
"I offer an integretive approach which means that I use a variety of different methods and insights to help you understand your life better and enable you to explore what is troubling you. I tailor what I do to the individual and his or her needs at that moment in time"
Frequently Asked Questions
How does counselling work?
Research has shown that it is not so much the counselling model that is significant to the success of counselling but the relationship with the counsellor. I believe that to be the cornerstone of all good therapy and it is important that we establish a good working relationship where you feel safe.
What is counselling?
Counselling offers the opportunity for you to express your thoughts and feelings about your difficulties in a non judgemental atmosphere and then to look at ways of working through these difficulties to a place of choice and release. I do not advise or take the problem away but I would help you to understand your life better which can bring you insight and choices abut what is troubling you.
Where do you work from?
I have a designated room in my home which is comfortable, confidential and quiet.
How much does counselling cost?
I charge £40 per session and couples are £50. I would ask you to pay for the first session at the introductory session so that we are always working with one session in hand.
| Individual per 50 minute sessions | £40 |
| Couples per 50 minute sessions | £50 |
What happens after I make contact with you?
Following your initial contact with me, we will make an introductory appointment which is called an assessment. I will hear something of your story and medical background and you get to meet me. Together we will decide if counselling is appropriate for you and you will be free to say if you want to continue with me. The normal fee will be charged for this.
What happens after we agree to proceed?
We will work out a mutually convenient time. This will normally be at the same time each week, but can be flexible if your situation prevents you from making a regular commitment. I offer daytime and some evening sessions. I work Monday to Thursday.
How long is a session and how many will I need?
A session is usually 50mins. This is conducted within the comfort of a designated room in my house and in the strictest confidence. It is difficult to say how many sessions a person needs. I work both on a short term basis, which can be 6-12 sessions or open ended which means we agree to finish when you feel the issue has been resolved. It is your choice. I also counsel couples who are experiencing problems in their relationship.
What if I get upset during my sessions?
Tears can be very therapeutic! They are a valid part of the process and can come as you share your experience with your counsellor.
What if I don't have a particular issue but would still like to talk with someone about my life. Can you help?
Yes. Many people find that having someone to talk to on a regular, ongoing basis can bring real benefits to them. We can meet weekly, fortnightly or monthly on this basis.
